The Vogtland area is known for its earthquakes . It is possible that there will be new eruptions in future. There are many old volcanoes in the are and also one of the "youngest" volcanoes of east Germany: The volcano Kammerbühl.
The research has shown that the content of helium-gas 3 is rising in thermal springs of the area, what is a clear sign of an uprising magma chamber. It is not sure how long it will takle and if there will be new eruptions in near future.
